Experience
Veronica has been a professionally trained and qualified counsellor for ten years. Her counselling experience has seen her work with neurodiverse clients or family members of neurodiverse people, particularly parents; she has worked with children and adolescents; clients suffering from grief and loss; attachment trauma; life events and change; self-esteem challenges; trauma and abuse; emotion regulation; and anxiety and/or depression; among others.
Veronica has also been a counselling lecturer in Christchurch and in Dunedin, as well as an agency manager and an agency counselling co-ordinator – both roles included providing supervision and overseeing student counsellors on placement working with the general public.
Approach
Veronica works from a Person-centred approach, supporting clients to find their way forward, building on their existing strengths and resources, to promote healing and growth. She approaches her work with an attachment lens and draws from acceptance and commitment therapy, gestalt therapy, solution focused brief therapy, art therapy, as well as other creative ways of exploring challenges.
Veronica is warm and inviting, providing a safe, non-judgmental and supportive environment. She focuses on listening deeply to clients and works with creativity and humour.
