Experience
Rachel is a registered Clinical Psychologist with many years’ experience and dedication in supporting people with a variety of different backgrounds and needs. These have included anxiety and mood difficulties, self-harm and risky behaviours, trauma, ADHD, and social/relationship difficulties. Rachel has worked extensively with young adults and teens and has a particular interest in the impact of trauma throughout the lifespan. Rachel sees a number of people for supported assessments and interventions for sensitive claims through ACC.
Rachel is currently working in a clinical psychology private practice in Dunedin which she co-founded in 2016 (www.drewcrannitch.co.nz). She sees most age groups, and works in a warm, supportive, and collaborative way, finding strategies that work best for each individual client that also have firm grounding in literature and research. Rachel uses a range of different therapies, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. Rachel regularly attends workshops and relevant courses as part of her ongoing professional development.
Prior to her work in private practice, Rachel worked in the United Kingdom for the NHS in a child and adolescent mental health team, with specialist roles in adolescents in crisis and children in foster care. In her past working life in New Zealand, Rachel has also worked for the DHB paediatric service, child mental health services, and corrections.
