Approach
Tania aims to offer a warm and safe environment, she has a particular strength in engaging with people and being able to work at their pace. She has significant experience working alongside people to shift their blocks to engaging in the therapeutic process. Alongside of her formal qualifications Tania has a strong commitment to professional development and has undertaken extensive training and learning. Her practice is informed by a number of models including Narrative; Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy; Cognitive Models (CBT, REBT); Motivational interviewing and Relapse Prevention. She has a strong interest in systemic therapies and understanding people in the context of their family and the environment around them. She believes this approach is particularly important with children and young people.
For the past 6 ½ years Tania has focussed her professional development in complex trauma and has worked supporting families where children have been affected by traumatic events and with mothers whose own abuse is impacting on their relationship with their children. Tania’s areas of interest are sexual abuse and sexual harm, trauma work, family therapy. Recently she has begun to enjoy training and has been teaching others about the impact of trauma on children and how parents, carers and professionals might need to alter their approach to create a sense of safety for children and young people.
