Profile
As a registered psychologist for over a decade, Erica has had the privilege of supporting people navigating life's complexities. She understands that seeking support is a significant step, and she strives to create a warm, safe, and non-judgmental space for each person she works with.
Her dedication to understanding the complexities of human experience extends beyond clinical practice. Driven by a desire to explore the broader influences on individuals and groups, she pursued and obtained a doctorate in social psychology. This academic background provides her with a deeper understanding of how societal structures, social relationships and concepts such as attitudes, communication, and prejudice shape our lives. She has found this additional study enriching to her therapeutic approach.
Whether you're struggling with anxiety, depression, the effects of trauma, navigating life as neurodivergent, or simply seeking support through life's transitions, She is here to walk alongside you. Her goal is to empower you to discover your inner strengths and develop the tools necessary to create lasting positive change. She believes in the power of connection and looks forward to the opportunity to support you on your journey.
Work Experience
Erica has worked in a range of environments. From practising in hospitals and corrections to private practice and community mental health. She has worked with young adults, couples and adults navigating a range of mental health challenges. Her experience also includes teaching, training, research ( academic and program), as well as the creation and facilitation of psychoeducational workshops.
Approach
Erica’s approach is deeply rooted in the belief that healing and growth are possible, even amidst challenging circumstances. She tailors her therapeutic strategies to each client's unique needs and comfort. With individuals, she draws from a variety of styles such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). This integrative approach helps develop greater self-awareness, build resilience, and create a more meaningful and fulfilling life story.
She has a particular passion for supporting those who have experienced trauma. Recognising the profound impact trauma can have, she has specialized in trauma-informed care and is proficient in multiple modalities such as EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). She is committed to providing compassionate and effective support to help individuals heal from past experiences and move towards a brighter future.
