Experience and Approach
As an NZAC registered Counsellor with over 13 years work experience to date, Kathryn works in a Private Practice setting counselling in a client-centred and strengths based way believing her clients to be the experts of their own lives. Using an eclectic approach, the counselling Modalities she uses in therapy reflect the individual client’s needs (for example, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and ACT Therapy).
Kathryn works with a broad mix of client groups including but not limited to individuals, couples, families/whanau, young people, different cultures and ethnicities, as well as LGBTQ+ clients.
Her work experience includes a wide range of client issues such as extensive work with clients suffering addictions, that is, Alcohol and Drug as well as Problem Gambling addictions. Kathryn also has experience working with clients at risk of suicide, assisting clients suffering from Depression and Anxiety disorders (including OCD) as well as more complex mental health issues such as Borderline Personality Disorder. She is currently working with clients experiencing sexual, emotional and physical Abuse and Trauma as an ACC approved therapist for the last 8 years. In addition to this, she also works with EAP (Employee Assistance Programme) clients contract counselling for organisations such as Benestar and Habit Health.

Bachelor of Arts degree in Management and German
