Rachelle Pickering has been working as a Registered Counsellor since 2017. She has been in private practice for 4 years at Awaken Counselling Services in Kaiapoi, holding full membership with NZCCA. She takes a holistic and humanistic approach to counselling in which she honours both the mind body connection, and each client’s unique individuality and experience. Approaches she works with include Person-Centred Therapy, assisting clients to achieve self-actualisation, becoming the best version of yourself. Rachelle’s gentle approach encompasses Gestalt Psychotherapy, working in the here and now to help people work through unfinished business and bring about closure to move forward into wholeness.

Rachelle works with each client according to their needs using a range of modalities such as EMDR, EFT, CBT, ACT, CFT, Mindfulness Based Interventions, Inner Child Healing Work, and Somatic Experiencing. Rachelle holds a Bachelor of Counselling and has completed several trainings including two years of Gestalt Psychotherapy Training. She has a particular focus on grief and loss, post abortion healing, healing trauma, PTSD and group therapy. Rachelle has a passion for and is experienced in running experimental therapy groups and personal development groups. She has taught process groups to counselling students.

As a counsellor Rachelle enjoys providing authentic, compassionate, insightful and challenging support to her clients. In addition to her therapeutic work Rachelle enjoys family time with her husband, children and dogs, spiritual growth, reading, walking at the beachan d cycling in nature.
