Experience and Approach
Tari is an Allied Health Professional predominantly working in Specialist Mental Health Services which provides a service in assessing the needs, providing treatment and support to people in the early stages of experiencing a psychiatric crisis.
Tari has 7 years’ experience working in Healthcare, Child Protection Services and Youth Justice Services. Tari has experience in trauma, harmful sexual behaviors, sexual abuse, mental health and addictions, offending behaviors, and family violence. Tari has knowledge on community/social services around Canterbury areas.
As an African born New Zealander, Tari is also passionate about working with and advocating for ethnic minorities and migrants through ensuring that they are positively empowered through their healing journey while giving regard to their cultural background with compassion and sensitivity.
Approach
Tari draws on a variety of therapeutic styles including Trauma informed, Solution-Focused Therapy as well as a Holistic and Systemic approach to counseling. Tari believes that an individual’s past traumas, future behavior patterns, and personal relationships within their community is interconnected with the issues they face in their life. Tari uses tools from Cognitive Behavior therapy (CBT), Acceptance, and Commitment therapy (ACT), and mindfulness-based interventions in her practice.
